Coverage Portability
WAEPA Members also enjoy the portability of our coverage. With WAEPA, you remain eligible for insurance even after you leave federal service, whether it be to retire, change agencies, or leave the public sector. Not only that, but you will never have to submit additional health information simply because you’ve left federal service. You only need to maintain your premiums.
If you pay via allotments and change jobs, leave federal service or retire, we will begin mailing a premium notice to you on a quarterly basis. If you are on Payroll Deduction and change jobs or retire, your premium payment will automatically come in the form of a paper bill. Notify us when you leave your position, whether it be to switch agencies, work in the private sector, or retire, so that we may ensure your preferred method of payment is set up in time.
