For more than 80 years, WAEPA has been committed to the financial well-being of Civilian Feds and their families. Since 1996, we have proudly awarded more than $125 million in premium refunds to our members. When was the last time FEGLI gave you money back?
What is WAEPA’s Premium Refund Program?
Each year, WAEPA’s Board of Directors thoroughly evaluates our fiscal performance in the previous year, as well as the outlook for upcoming years. This determines if we are able to reward a premium refund back to our members.
WAEPA’s members receive their refund in the form of a check, ensuring a hassle-free experience. While not a premium refund is not guaranteed, WAEPA has awarded a refund in 28 of the past 29 years.

2024 Premium Refund
- 2024 premium refund checks were mailed on Thursday, September 26, 2024.
- Checks may take up to three weeks to arrive.
- If you do not receive your check, the amount will be automatically credited to your WAEPA account on January 6, 2025.
- To be eligible for a 2023 premium refund, your WAEPA insurance must have been in-force by December 31, 2023 and have continued through August 31, 2024.
